HAPPY 2013 !!!!!

I hope this finds everyone enjoying the New Year so far!

It has been quite a long time since I posted - actually well over a month.  Our design team had the month of December 'off' and I guess without thinking, I did the same thing :) Between 1 co-worker leaving for a new job, waiting for our new person to start, the holidays, plus being sick over the end of the year - I put my blog off to the side.  Now that I had the time off - it's time to get back at it!!!

I am hoping that by the weekend to have a few thing posted for you.  Recently, my girlfriends and I got together before the holidays and made a few sock snowmen.  I found the directions on Pinterest - which has become my new favorite website lately.  My problem is, that I found tons of things I want to try, but don't have the time :(

So 'stayed tuned' and I will be sharing with you soon!!

Birthday card/new technique

My oldest granddaughter celebrated her 7th birthday a few weeks back.  Of course, as most of us know it's all about the gifts and not so much the card.  Although, she does enjoy making cards w/me so I thought I would try out a new technique to see if it worked.  Plus, I thought she would really enjoy it.

I had seen a couple of tutorials on scratch n sniff cards/images.  So I thought, why not make a cupcake and make the frosting 'chocolate' scented.  So I went out on You Tube and found a 'recipe' for making scents.
You basically use any sugar-free product like Kool-Aid, Jell-O or drink mix (Crystal Light).  They had suggested mixing it 3 parts clear embossing powder to 1 part sugar-free mix.  It had said it was better to error on the side of caution, then not to have all of your mix 'melt'.  Again, this is why it has to be sugar-free - so as to melt w/the clear embossing powder.  I had picked up a cheap store brand chocolate pudding and gave it a try.  I put my mix into a cup and mixed it up really good.

I had cut out the 'frosting' of the cupcake on my Cricut w/brown cardstock.  Then inked it up w/Versamark, and then put on the mixed embossing powder.  Making sure to coat it really good.  Tapped of the excess, and used my heat gun and TA-DA.....a chocolate scented cupcake.

Here it is:

I had her scratch it and tell me what it smelled like.  She was like "Grandma, it smells like chocolate....yum".  Now I can't wait to try other flavors :)

I had fun and I hope you will try it and see what you think!!

Thanks for stopping by

I'm so excited!!!

My girlfriend recently attend a scrapbooking expo and told me about a great new company. The company's name is Raisin Boat, and they are located in my home state of WI in Waunakee which is near Madison.

Bobbi Lemanski and Kim Ziehr of Raisin Boat, are avid cardmakers and scrapbookers who could never get enough stamps to satisfy their love for the hobby. And I TOTALLY agree with them!! So, they have the very first company to offer easy online stamp rental. As my girlfriend described it to me "It's like Netflix, but with stamps"! You choose the membership plan you like, create your pick list and let the creativity begin once you have get your set in the mail.

I'm not sure about you, but I have always seen sets in the stores and thought "Oh this would be cute, but I would probably only ever use it once". And we all know we hate to make that commitment.  This is where renting from Raisin Boat comes in so handy!! Get your set in the mail, create, and send it back and get your next set....so simple!

Here is my first card using the "Undies in a Bunch" set.

I stamped the 'underwear' onto some DP and then carefully cut each of them out. Then stamped the clothes line onto my paper and "hung my underwear" on the line....lol  : ) I had so much fun creating this card. I can't wait to get my next set!!

I hope you will go and check them out over at Raisin Boat. It's a really neat site!

Scrapfest 12'

A couple of weeks back, my girlfriends and I went to the Mall of America in Minnesota for Archivers annual Scrapfest.  We look forward to this time every year to learn new techniques and see new products, but most of all - scrap and have a great girls weekend!!!

One of the classes we took was called "Cute Cards in a Snap" offered thru Archivers themselves. Below is a copy of the flyer that was handed out in our class.
Each of the classes we took last approx. 45 to 50 min, but of course you can never get all of your projects completed.  The idea is to give to the basics of a new idea or technique, or get a chance to learn how to use a new product. We usually end up going back to our hotel room that night and finish up the rest of our stuff.

This is my take on the project.  Of course they tell us we don't have to follow the directions word per word - we can always take our "own spin" on it if we would like.  Here are mine:

I switched the direction of the 'banners' on a couple of them, as well as the size of the banner too. Recently at work, I was asked to make a card for a fellow co-worker that had cancer, went into remission and recently, had found out that the cancer had come back.

I really liked the design and layout of the card we had created in class,
so I created a "Thinking of You" card.
As always - my girlfriends and I had an AWESOME time and I love all the new ideas and techniques I came back with. Hope you enjoyed them too : )

See you again real soon!!

Michelle
